I have previously made train loops by stitching on buttons and loops or hooks and eyes if a wedding dress required an american bustle until one day i came up with idea for the trainloop which requires no sewing. Next sew an eye hook to the end of the train. Enter the bustle a series of hooks buttons or ribbons that lift up and secure the train making it even with your hemline.
A shorter train or a simpler dress may have just a few buttons or ties to tuck up the extra fabric and make it the length of the rest of the skirt while longer trains will have intricate bustles. A gorgeous addition to a wedding gown the long train can however put a damper on spirited activity such as dancing at the wedding reception. A seamstress will lift the long train and attach it to the back of the gown with a cloth covered button and loop to give the bride more freedom of movement. The train of your wedding dress is a gorgeous dramatic and by nature of having a long swathe of fabric trailing behind you somewhat cumbersome detail.

To bustle a wedding dress attach a tie on the underside seam of the skirt so that when your bustle is complete your skirt hem will just be off the floor.
